A meticulously reimagined interpretation of BMW’s legendary air-cooled boxer platform, this 1994 BMW R100R cafe racer by Diamond Atelier represents the fusion of classic Bavarian engineering and contemporary custom craftsmanship. Now offered on Bring a Trailer, the machine showcases the Munich marque’s durable R-series architecture transformed into an aggressively modernized performance-oriented build with unmistakable visual presence.
Originally based on the R100R platform, the motorcycle features Diamond Atelier’s individually handcrafted rear-frame solution, designed to create the brand’s signature floating tail silhouette while precisely compensating for BMW frame tolerances.
The build adopts a far more athletic stance thanks to clip-on handlebars, rear-set controls, and an inverted front fork conversion, while LED lighting modernizes both visibility and design execution. Complementing the revised chassis geometry are 17-inch rim-edge spoke wheels wrapped in Metzeler Roadtec rubber measuring 120/70 front and 160/60 rear.
The cockpit is equally refined, featuring black clip-on handlebars, aftermarket switchgear, a bar-end mirror, and a compact Motogadget Motoscope Tiny display integrating a digital tachometer and diagnostics functions.
Power comes from BMW’s iconic air-cooled 980cc OHV opposed twin, equipped with dual 40mm Bing carburetors, big-valve cylinder heads, pod filters, an oil cooler, and a two-into-one Spark exhaust system. Routed through a five-speed transmission and enclosed driveshaft, the drivetrain delivers the unmistakable torque-rich character that has made BMW’s boxer twins enduringly collectible among enthusiasts and custom builders alike.
