Riding Gear – Ugly Bros Tonup armoured jeans

When it comes to protecting your legs in the event of an accident there are 2 main areas of focus, abrasion and impact. Both are equally important, but protection against the latter tends to be less common. After researching injuries relating to every day riding the team at UglyBros discovered that knee and hip injuries often outweighed road rash. As a result, they developed their Tonup motorcycle jeans.

With a lower price point than their kevlar lined range, the Ugly Bros Tonup jeans offer protection against hard knocks. These injuries can be the result of lower speed collisions, such as urban commuting, which is where the majority of motorcyclists do their riding. Made from mid-weight 12oz denim the jeans feature external pockets on the knees and internal hip pockets that allow the fitment of included CE armour. The jeans inner thermo layer and quilted thigh pads add additional weight to the jeans and although it won’t withstand the same punishment as Kevlar or Dyneema, it’s a step up from your everyday Levis.

The black Tonup jeans are cut for a slim fit and feature a sturdy YKK zipper. Designed specifically with riders in mind the styling of the Tonup jeans may not be everybody’s cup of tea. However, thanks to elasticated shirring in the knee and waist panels the jeans reduce fatigue in high-pressure areas for increased riding comfort.
