Ducati 749S Café Racer by Himora Motors: A Modern Take on an Underrated Ducati

A complete reimagining of a controversial Ducati icon

The Ducati 749S has long been one of the most misunderstood motorcycles to emerge from Bologna. Overshadowed by the legendary 916 series and criticized for its unconventional styling when new, the early-2000s superbike has gradually earned recognition for its exceptional chassis, sharp handling, and potent Testastretta V-twin engine. German custom builder Himora Motors saw that hidden potential and transformed the 749S into one of the most striking café racer builds of 2026.

Rather than creating a retro-inspired machine, the crew from Himora Motors pursued a contemporary interpretation of the café racer formula. The project begins by removing the Ducati’s original fairings, exposing the iconic red trellis frame that becomes the visual centerpiece of the motorcycle. A custom-built rear subframe supports a minimalist solo seat and sculpted tail section, giving the bike a leaner and more purposeful stance while preserving its aggressive sporting character.

At the front, the original twin-headlight arrangement has been replaced by a Koso Zenith LED unit housed within a bespoke carbon-composite nacelle. Produced using modern 3D-printing techniques, the design blends classic café racer influences with futuristic styling. The cockpit receives a similar treatment, featuring Motogadget electronics, a compact digital display, and bar-end mirrors that contribute to the bike’s clean and uncluttered appearance.

One of the most impressive aspects of the build is Himora’s decision to retain much of the 749S’s factory performance hardware. The fully adjustable Showa suspension, Brembo braking system, and lightweight chassis remain intact, ensuring that the motorcycle delivers the precise handling characteristics that made the original 749S such a capable sportbike. Power continues to come from Ducati’s 748cc liquid-cooled Testastretta L-twin, producing around 110 horsepower and providing the distinctive character that enthusiasts expect from a Ducati superbike.

The most notable mechanical upgrade is a custom two-into-one-into-two exhaust system fitted with twin Speed Pro Cobra silencers. Beyond enhancing the bike’s visual appeal, the setup amplifies the unmistakable soundtrack of Ducati’s desmodromic V-twin engine.

A unique split-color paint scheme completes the transformation. Finished in contrasting shades of white and gunmetal gray, separated by a bold red center stripe, the design symbolizes the balance between performance and restraint. Carbon-fiber accents and the exposed red frame further highlight the motorcycle’s blend of modern engineering and handcrafted artistry.

The Ducati 749S Café Racer by Himora Motors proves that great motorcycles are not always the most celebrated. By reimagining an underrated superbike through a modern café racer lens, Himora has created a machine that combines cutting-edge design, authentic performance, and unmistakable Ducati character in a package that feels both contemporary and timeless.
