Bike Of The Day: Sportster Forty-Eight Harley Davidson Cafe Racer By FatBoy Design

The star of the 2022 Bangkok Hot Rod Custom Show was a heavily modified Sportster Forty-Eight Harley Davidson cafe racer, designed by Chakkaphan Rungsukcharoen, known as Mark from FatBoy Design.

Inspired by his father’s Lamborghini Murcielago SV, Mark completed the build in just 60 days with assistance from skilled friends. The collaboration with Nattapat Janyapanich’s Slayer House, specializing in carbon fiber, resulted in a remarkable carbon bodywork, including a front fairing, fuel tank cover, and angular tail unit.

The Sportster’s stance was transformed for the cafe racer design by using taller Ohlins piggyback shocks at the rear and Showa upside-down forks at the front, mounted with custom-made FatBoy CNC triple trees. Bolt-on aftermarket components were added, such as FatBoy Design clip-on handlebars, Performance Machine levers, and Roland Sands Design Tracker Grips.

The wheels received machined aluminum hoops from RSD, complemented by custom-painted brake calipers inspired by Lamborghini. The 1200cc V-twin engine received aesthetic upgrades and performance enhancements, with a Two Brothers Racing exhaust system, Performance Machine hi-flow filter, and ECU re-tune.

The bike amazed attendees at the show, earning FatBoy Design the Best Cafe Racer award and a personal “Best in Show” nomination from Shiro Nakajima of 46 Works.
