A meticulously crafted Triton cafe racer is now available for auction on Bring a Trailer, showcasing an exceptional fusion of classic British engineering and bespoke craftsmanship. Completed in 2019 by Triumph of Broadway in Hendersonville, North Carolina, the one-off build combines a modified Norton Wideline Featherbed frame with a rebuilt 741cc air-cooled triple-cylinder engine sourced from a Triumph Trident T160.
At the heart of the motorcycle is the legendary Featherbed frame, a design revered for its precise handling and enduring influence on classic racing motorcycles. Finished in black, the chassis supports hand-finished polished aluminum bodywork, including a sculpted fuel tank fitted with a traditional flip-top fuel cap. The tank is secured by a polished stainless-steel retaining strap and toggle, emphasizing the handcrafted attention to detail throughout the build. Completing the minimalist aesthetic are a solo saddle, matching aluminum rear cowl, stainless-steel fenders, rear-set foot controls, and a side stand that reinforces the bike’s authentic café racer stance.
Rolling on wire-spoke wheels with flanged alloy rims, the Triton wears a 19-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear, both wrapped in Continental tires chosen for classic styling and dependable road performance. Suspension duties are handled by the iconic Norton Roadholder front fork paired with adjustable twin rear shock absorbers, providing a balanced combination of vintage character and tunable ride quality. Braking performance is upgraded with cross-drilled disc rotors, while a Brembo front caliper delivers modern stopping capability without compromising the motorcycle’s period-inspired appearance.
The cockpit remains faithful to traditional British motorcycle design, featuring chrome handlebars, black grips, a single left-side mirror, and classic Smiths gauges. Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer alongside a tachometer marked with a 7,000-rpm redline. The odometer records just 74 miles since the motorcycle’s completion, indicating minimal use following the custom build.
Power comes from a rebuilt 741cc Triumph Trident T160 triple equipped with triple Amal carburetors, an oil cooler, and both electric and kick-start systems. A handcrafted stainless-steel three-into-three exhaust complements the engine’s distinctive character, while a five-speed transmission and chain final drive deliver power to the rear wheel, completing a thoughtfully engineered interpretation of the classic Triton formula.
