A heavily modified 1993 BMW K1100LT is now listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, showcasing a dramatic transformation of BMW’s classic “Flying Brick” sport-touring motorcycle into a modern custom scrambler-style machine.
Acquired by the seller in July 2025, the bike was subsequently reworked with extensive cosmetic and mechanical modifications aimed at giving the long-distance touring platform a more stripped-down and aggressive personality. The build includes a welded rear frame hoop, a custom scrambler seat, clip-on handlebars, a digital multifunction gauge, and relocated electrical components including the wiring, battery, and ignition switch.
The frame was modified using a weld-on tail loop before being refinished in semi-gloss black epoxy paint, while the fuel tank was intentionally left in black without repainting to preserve part of the bike’s original appearance. Additional upgrades include a carbon-fiber-look rear fender, a shortened front fender, carbon-style fork leg covers, rear-set foot controls, and a Twisted Brothers two-person scrambler seat. LED lighting has also been added throughout, including the headlight, taillight, and turn signals.
The motorcycle rides on black-painted three-spoke alloy wheels fitted with a Kenda front tire and an Avon rear tire. Braking is handled by dual front discs and a single rear disc, now paired with braided stainless-steel brake hoses. Suspension consists of a conventional front fork and a rear monoshock setup.
A major highlight of the build is the modified 1,092cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four engine. Originally known for its smooth performance and durability, the powerplant now features pod air filters, a performance chip, and a four-into-one exhaust system terminating in a carbon-fiber muffler.
The engine has also been refinished in a combination of matte and gloss black coatings to match the motorcycle’s stealth-inspired styling theme.Power is sent to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and BMW’s signature enclosed shaft-drive system, a setup long respected for reliability and low maintenance.
The cockpit features black-finished clip-on handlebars with diamond-pattern grips and bar-end mirrors frame the digital display, while the relocated ignition key contributes to the bike’s cleaner and more minimalist layout.
This custom-built K1100LT represents a modern reinterpretation of BMW Motorrad’s durable K-series platform, blending café racer and scrambler influences with classic German engineering.
