I'm always on the lookout for new eye candy. I do regular hunts online seeking out fresh photos and custom bike builds but every so often I stumble across a goldmine.
I've been looking at a lot of "Brat Style" bikes lately for a bit of inspiration. My Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer will definately be influenced by this style while still staying true to my Cafe Racer passion. Engine details, fairing treatment, minimalist lighting and in a few cases paint jobs from these bikes are helping me build a picture in my mind of how I want my bike to eventually (hopefully) look. So today I visited Flickr, a great resource for images of pretty much anything you want and in this case a shite load of photos of Japanese custom motorbikes. Ysterkvisten's photstream popped up in a search...can't quite remember the exact term I used but boy was I please with myself. A motherload of Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda and even a few Harleys customised in a way that only the Japanese seem capable.
I don't know what to say about this bike. It's obviously for show only but I have to say I love the lantern hanging from it's jaw.
Ysterkvisten's profile doesn't give anything away but I can see he is a man with similar taste to my own. In October of 2008 he created this amazing gallery. Below are a few examples with direct links or you can click the link at the bottom of this post to visit his photostream on Flickr. Enjoy.
I love the rims and super skinny front tire on this Bratstyle XS650. I don't know how safe I'd feel relying on that tiny little front brake though.
Another xs650. The white walls and short mufflers are cool.
Again awesome rims and short pipes. The engine on this one is painted very similar to mine
Back to Cafe Racer styling but the paintjob on this one screams out Chopper to me. Not my taste but everything has it's place.
Classic Cafe Racer cool.
Tidy custom tanks and seats.
