There are currently 4 models available in the Triumph classic range. The Boneville, Boneville T100, the Thruxton 900 and the new Scrambler. Each bikes reflects the style of bikes produced by Triumph in years gone by but with all the improvements of modern technology you would expect in a new bike.
The Thruxton 900 takes all of it's design leads from the Cafe Racer era. Sporting features such as clip on style handle bars and a smooth sloping tail and single seat. Triumph has this to say about the Thruxton..."a café racer with an obvious race heritage , power is made by the responsive 865cc parallel twin engine. This is a bike that really involves the rider. The handling has plenty of feel with damping tuned for a sportier ride and pre-load adjustable front and rear suspension. Aluminium rims, grippy tyres and floating front discs are just the cocoa powder sprinkled on the mocca"...coffee anecdotes aside this is a great looking and great performing bike.
The 69bhp, 900cc engine has twin carburettors and a DOHC, the ride is controlled by adjustable preload shocks (chromed of course) and 2 piston caliper brakes on the front and rear to help you pull back on her reigns hard when need be. The bike is capable of speeds of around 120mph and has a steady comfortable ride and low or high speed.
Triumph has also put together a great range of accessories for the Thruxton allowing owners to create their own personalised version of the bike. Accessories range from chromed engine dress up parts, colour coded fly screens, body decals for the tank and tail, twin seats or classic style badges.
So what's the best thing about the Thruxton...at $14,990AUD it's easily one of the most affordable Cafe Style Racers on the market at the moment and it's being made by the same company that helped spawn the birth of the Cafe Racer movement in the 1960's.
Once again in the words of Triumph "Thruxton 900. True original. Modern icon". Nuff said.
